Postilion provides the range of card management services required by financial institutions, retailers and other card issuers. Postilion is fully EMV capable, in terms of card production, management, and authorization capabilities.

The solution can provide the following services:

• Card status management - this includes the management of card status and card activation. Also, when a transaction is initiated, the status of the card is checked before the transaction request is validated
• Authorization services - this enables Postilion to act as a transaction authorizer using available balances maintained in the system. If an issuer remains the primary authorizer, Postilion can forward transactions to the issuer when it is available and authorize transactions when the issuer is unavailable
• PIN management - this determines the generation, validation, and management of PINs associated with cards in the Postilion system. Postilion supports full PIN verification and subsequent PIN changes
• Card production - this provides the services and configurations associated with the physical production of plastic cards

The solution can issue tokens of any description (whether a magnetic stripe card, bar code, or gift voucher) and manage their distribution, sale, and redemption. It also includes features specific to stored value and gift card programs. These include allocation of expiry date on first usage of a card, batch activation of cards, card production capabilities for anonymous cards (used in gift card programs), and management of an escheatment process via non-usage fees.

Denominated and non-denominated cards and vouchers can be managed, with the value of non-denominated ones determined when sold to the customer. The benefits of this are that issuers have control over usage and redemption.

Activation and redemption of gift cards are available through all channels supported in the solution.

Stored value cards are typically branded Visa or MasterCard, allowing the cardholder to transact on the Visa or MasterCard network. Transactions can therefore be performed on any of the multiple channels supported by Postilion and on all Visa/MasterCard channels.
