Wednesday Outing
Tour of San Antonio
The tour will leave the hotel at 9:00 AM on Wednesday morning and we will head to the river in downtown San Antonio. From there we will board river barges for a 45-minute tour along the beautiful San Antonio River. While cruising along the river, a certified tour guide will keep you entertained with many wonderful stories about the enchanted river.

After we disembark from the river barges, we will take a short walk to the Alamo Plaza and the Alamo herself. The Alamo is one of the most famous spots in Texas and is where 189 defenders fell on March 6, 1836. You can tour this sacred monument at your leisure but please feel free to ask your personal tour guide any questions that you may have. While there we will also see the IMAX movie, "The Alamo, the Price of Freedom".

We will be having lunch at the Mi Tierra Mexican Restaurant, a legendary culinary landmark.

Next, we will board the motor coach with our certified tour guide to begin the driving-tour of San Antonio. Our first place of interest is one of the most beautiful neighborhoods in all of Texas, the tree-lined avenues of King William Historic District. Prosperous German merchants, who made their mark in San Antonio in the late 1800's, built their grand homes in this area. A visit to this district would not be complete without a tour of the Guenther House. The Guenther family built their home in 1876, and it has now been carefully restored and turned into a popular museum and tea room. While in this area we will also be sure to visit the majestic San Fernando Cathedral.

For our last stop, we will visit the "Queen of the Missions", Mission San Jose. The site was established in 1720 and is the largest and most well restored of all San Antonio's five missions. We will tour the Indians' quarters that were located within the walls as well as the quarters of the Spanish soldiers. San Jose's church is one of the most beautiful in the country with its elaborate carvings and the famous "Rose Window". The beautiful visitor's center will be open for those who want to learn more about all the missions of San Antonio.
(Cost - $100.00, includes motor coach, entrance fees and lunch)
